Health Insurance Provider fee repeal and updated pricing system

Mar. 30, 2020

Congress has repealed the Health Insurance Provider (HIP) fee effective January 1, 2021. We’ve updated our pricing and quoting systems to reflect this change.

Large group (fully insured)

  • January 2020 effective dates: no impact
  • February through December 2020 effective dates: rates will be recalculated to reflect the prorated amount of the HIP fee for months that fall in 2021, as applicable

Small group and individual and family plans

  • 2020 rates were developed and filed with the Office of the Insurance Commissioner in 2019. Our 2021 rates will reflect the HIP fee repeal.
