COVID-19 diagnostic testing at Kaiser Permanente

May. 19, 2021

Testing plays a major role in fighting COVID-19 — for our health, the health of our communities, and to help safely reopen businesses, schools, and more. Kaiser Permanente has greatly increased COVID-19 diagnostic testing capacity and can now provide testing for both asymptomatic and symptomatic members. Kaiser Permanente continues to comply with all federal and state laws, including the CARES and CARES 2.0 Acts, for covering COVID-19 testing.

Encourage members to get COVID-19 diagnostic testing at Kaiser Permanente

We recommend getting a diagnostic test for people currently experiencing symptoms or those who have been exposed to someone with COVID-19 and have not been fully vaccinated. When members receive diagnostic COVID-19 testing at Kaiser Permanente, they get:

  • Easy online scheduling — testing appointments can be scheduled 24/7 and are usually available within 1-2 days.
  • Convenient access to testing locations — testing is available at most Kaiser Permanente facilities.
  • Reliable and accurate test results — usually available within 48 hours, often quicker, depending on demand.
  • New test results automatically saved to medical record — care teams are notified and can follow up with members as needed.

Help manage your health care costs by encouraging your employees, who are Kaiser Permanente members, to receive COVID-19 diagnostic testing at Kaiser Permanente. While there is no member cost share, our current testing fee is $75 per test, including administration, which is significantly lower than the market average.
