Feb. 24, 2022

Supply continues to vary, but COVID-19 home antigen tests are increasingly available.

Anyone can order:

FDA-authorized COVID-19 self-tests can also be purchased at local drug stores or online retailers. Kaiser Permanente members will be reimbursed for COVID-19 self-tests purchased on or after January 15, 2022. Claims must include:

Members may also schedule an appointment to pick up COVID-19 self-tests at select Kaiser Permanente locations on kp.org/wa or through the mobile app. One member per appointment, and one member can pick up reserved tests for the household. PCR testing update

Kaiser Permanente Washington is offering COVID-19 diagnostic testing to all symptomatic and asymptomatic members. Results are usually available within 1–3 days.

Tested positive for COVID-19?

A positive COVID-19 self-test result likely means infection, even without symptoms. A PCR test is not needed to confirm a positive COVID-19 self-test, but members should:

  • Follow the CDC recommendations for isolation and inform close contacts.
  • Report results to Kaiser Permanente to help us better understand how the virus is spreading in our communities. Remember, a COVID-19 self-test can’t be confirmed by Kaiser Permanente for school, travel, work, or other official needs — and it won’t be added to a member’s medical record.
  • Sign in to kp.org/wa or the Kaiser Permanente Washington mobile app for questions or concerns about symptoms and to access 24/7 on-demand care options. Members can also call our 24/7 advice line at 1-800-297-6877.
  • Continue to stay current with vaccination and boosters, which provide the best protection against severe illness from COVID-19 — along with wearing a mask in public settings, keeping a distance from others, washing hands often, and staying home when sick.
