Washington’s top-ranked medical group

May. 18, 2023

For the 16th consecutive year, Kaiser Permanente and the Washington Permanente Medical Group were recognized for the high-quality, patient‑centered care we provide to our members, including your most valuable asset — your employees.

The Washington Health Alliance 2023 Community Checkup report measures the quality and value of health care delivered across Washington and compares national metrics related to performance.

Angela Dowling, regional president of Kaiser Permanente Washington, said, “Year after year, our medical group has been one of the top-ranked in the state, which means that when you come to Kaiser Permanente, you can trust that you’re in the best hands, with the highest quality of care.”

In the commercial category, Kaiser Permanente’s score indicates that it outperformed 82% of the other organizations and facilities. We also ranked first in the Quality Composite Score, which measures:

  • Prevention and screening, includingthetimeliness of recommended services, such as well-child visits, adolescent well-care visits, and breast, cervical, and colorectal cancer screenings
  • Care for chronic diseases, including diabetes, high cholesterol, depression, and hypertension
  • Coordinated, cost-effective care that avoids costly inpatient readmissions and unnecessary emergency department visits
  • Appropriate, cost-effective care, such as prescribing generic medications, avoiding inappropriate antibiotic use, and avoiding unnecessary X-rays, MRIs, and CT scans for specific types of low back pain

“As we continue to hone in on value, it’s clear that Kaiser Permanente Washington not only offers high-quality care, but it does this at reasonable cost to patients,” said Drew Oliveira, MD, MHA, executive director of the Washington Health Alliance. “We look forward to working alongside Kaiser Permanente and all our health care providers to ensure everyone in our state receives high-quality care that is accessible and affordable.”

Our high-quality, patient-centered care is just one of the ways we can maximize your employees’ health, minimize your health care costs, and help your business continue to grow and prosper.
